I feel so at ease with auditions after working with Chris. He has a masterful understanding of text and craft. He honors your impulses, invites you to make strong choices grounded in truth, and he has a keen understanding of building business relationships that last for the long term.

Simplicity of character is the natural result of profound thought.
Chris Mixon has spent over 30 years in the entertainment industry as a professional actor and comedian, teacher, director, producer, playwright, musician and singer. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, studying with William Esper—the renown protégé of Sanford Meisner. Chris now serves as an independent acting instructor coaching and mentoring artists at all stages of their career—professional and aspiring performers alike. In addition to teaching basic and advanced acting, movement and voice, Chris teaches improvisation, comedy, audition technique, song performance, monologues, scene study, character development and script analysis. He also instructs non-entertainment professionals in business presentation skills.
Chris has lectured at drama programs around the country, such as Syracuse University, Penn State University, the University of Portland (OR), the University of Central Florida, Troy University, Columbus State University, and he is currently on the faculty at the Pearl Theatre Conservatory in New York City. Chris has taught dramatics for young people and adults at prominent regional theatres including the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Orlando Shakespeare Festival and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, where he spent five years as artistic director for ASF’s “Camp Shakespeare”, directing and teaching hundreds of young performers each year—most often in economically challenged areas. Chris also created the Montgomery Dramatics for Home Schoolers program, serving home school families in Montgomery, Alabama, fulfilling arts curriculum for students ages 9 to 17.
